Swedish Bitters - Elixir of Life
Swedish bitters are a wonderful digestive remedy and an excellent remedy for influenza, pains and illnesses of all kinds that has been used in medicine for hundreds of years. In fact, bitter foods and drinks were a major part of our ancestors’ diets, and are still often used in Chinese traditional medicine and Ayurveda.
This wonderful concoction is an indispensable aid to health that no household should be without. The recipe was invented by Dr. Samst, a Swedish physician whose entire family reached a ripe old age, thanks to the help of his Swedish Bitters.
With today’s modern diet largely favoring sweet things, bitters have almost disappeared from our daily lives.
Using bitter tonics is still enormously beneficial to your body due to the impact they have on digestion.
Bitters are made from herbs and whole plant extracts. They’re taken orally, and designed to stimulate the release of digestive enzymes from your mouth and throughout your entire digestive tract. At the same time, Swedish Bitters promote the secretion of other integral digestive substances such as hydrochloric acid (HCL) and bile.

MORE PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Swedish Bitters & Candida
Candida is yeast found in small amounts in the body, but some health problems can cause candida to grow to dangerous levels. Swedish bitters can contribute to a candida treatment by increasing your natural production of digestive enzymes and by raising the acidity of your intestines. This increased acidity protects your digestive system from candida build-up, helping you maintain a healthy functioning gut and digestive tract.
Swedish Bitters & Liver Function
Promoting a healthy liver is a main function of Swedish bitters. The cleansing action of Swedish bitters encourages the production of bile, which helps to metabolize fats and help eliminate unwanted substances from the body. The liver is a main organ involved in the processing of nutrients, and Swedish bitters can help improve nutrient efficiency.
Swedish Bitters & Blood Sugar
Regulating the production of insulin is important in the maintenance of blood sugar levels. Swedish bitters help regulate insulin, preventing spikes in blood sugar that can alter mood and energy. Spikes in blood sugar are thought to cause candida grow, which makes blood sugar management a part of containing yeast levels.
Swedish Bitters & the Immune System
Swedish bitters are thought to be stress-reducing products. Many studies have demonstrated that stress has a negative impact on the immune system, which makes Swedish bitter's stress-relieving properties beneficial for the health of your immune system. The same can be said for its cleansing effects on candida. Candida build-up can lower the effectiveness of your gut and your efficient use of nutrients that support a healthy immune system. A healthy gut goes a long way in maintaining a healthy-functioning immune system.
Swedish Bitters & Oral Health
Many people use Swedish bitters to improve throat infections. Gargling water with diluted Swedish bitters can clear the throat. Some people use small amounts of Swedish bitters in tea to improve the health of your throat. Blisters on the tongue, toothaches, and other oral health issues can be improved by using water with diluted Swedish bitters.
Other Swedish Bitters Benefits
Swedish bitters are not only effective in treating a number of internal health issues, but are also very effective in treating a range of external problems. Swedish bitters can soothe insect bites by relieving discomfort and irritation, which can help you stop scratching and further agitating affected areas. This is also true for burns and other skin irritations, as well as improving the healing of scars. The antiseptic properties of Swedish bitters are also useful for cleaning wounds.
According to Maria Treben author of the book "Health from God's garden" there is hardly any illness where Swedish Bitters is not of benefit, or at least is effective as a basis for every treatment.
INTERNALLY: Prophylactics are taken according to the “old manuscript” (transcript of the Swedish Bitter's curative power) in the morning and evening, 1 teaspoonful diluted with water. For indisposition of any kind, 3 tablespoons diluted with water can be taken. For serious diseases, 2 to 3 tablespoons are taken as follows: 1 tablespoon diluted with half a cup of herb tea (like Chamomile, Stinging Nettle, Calendula etc. tea), half of it is sipped half an hour before and the other half an hour after each meal.
COMPRESS: According to area, a piece of cotton wool or gauze (paper towel), is moistened with Swedish Bitters and applied to the affect area which has been well covered with lard or Calendula ointment/salve. A slightly larger piece of plastic is put over it to prevent the clothes from getting stained. Then a cloth is wound around or a bandage is used.
The compress can be left on, depending on illness, for 2 to 4 hours. If tolerated, the compress can stay on overnight. After removal the skin is powdered. Should people with sensitive skin still develop a rash, the compresses have to be used for a shorter period only or omitted for a time… People who are allergic to plastic should leave it off. Never forget to grease the skin beforehand. If an itching rash has already developed it can be treated with Calendula ointment/salve.
