Arnica, sometimes called mountain daisy (as well as mountain tobacco, leopard's bane, and wolf's bane) for its bright yellow and orange daisy-like flowers, is a mountain plant whose flowers and roots are used to make topical pain-relief remedies.
Tincture of arnica is commonly used in natural sports medicine and for the external treatment of swelling, bruising, arthritis, sore muscles, joint pain, and sprains at home.
Arnica Tincture is commonly used by adding several drops to warm water and soaking the area that is sprain, swollen, bruised or otherwise injured in a small tub.
Arnica is well known for its ability to help with bruises, sprains, strains, etc. and speed healing. It can be put on areas of trauma after falls, accidents, etc.
Dilute using 1 part tincture to 4 parts water for cold compress. Add to hand or foot soaks for arthritis and swelling. For tender feet a foot-bath of hot water containing 2 oz. of the tincture arnica has brought great relief. Arnica is not to be taken internally. Arnica should not be applied to broken or burned skin.
